Mobile Design Project
Role: UX / UI Designer
Timeline: November 2021 – February 2022
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Snappify is a mobile app that empowers parents to research and find schools that align with their children’s needs, while amplifying their goals of fostering their children’s success in education.
The Problem
Traditional school hunting process is intimidating, unstructured, and overwhelming.
Parents seek an organized and user-friendly school search process that provides them with reliable information to aid their decision-making.
The Solution
Providing a seamless service with resources and a school matching system is what we found from our research.
The Process
DISCOVER
Competitive Analysis
Gathering insights was the first step to understanding the pain points parents had throughout their school search process.
6 interviews later, when considering schools:
The Main Insight
We compiled our research from our parent interviews to inform our design decisions.
Parents want their children to succeed in their education.
This pointed me back to our problem statement and found 3 key points that drove us back to the reason to our design decisions:
1. Safety First
Snappify ensures the child's safety by minimizing how much personal data is displayed.
2. Access Reliable Information
Snappify makes searching and discovering the best schools options easy, simple, and parent-friendly.
3. Easy Application Process
We made applying for schools easy with a “one-click apply” button. Our intuitive common application process helps you apply to the schools you want for your child in one go!
DEVELOP
Sketching Wireframes
After deciding on the sketches that would best accommodate our users, and made iterations.
DELIVER
Prototypes
Although this was my first UX design project, my team and I were ambitious. We successfully created a high-fidelity rapid prototype.
Iterations
After the project was submitted, I went back to make some screen iterations. The screens still need iterations matching accessibility guidelines and usability testing.
1. Log-In Screen
I made sure the frame matched branding consistency.
2. Onboarding Screen
We had a good start, but I added trackers for the user to know where they are in the onboarding process and how long it’s going to take to finish their onboarding.
3. Home Page Screen
I implemented much needed information hierarchy. Each design choice was decided to help the user know what is happening, next steps, and be that personal assistant for our parents.
REFLECTION
Lessons Learned
Snappify is still a work in progress but this project taught me how:
Important research is. This is the bread and butter to design and the reason to why you design what you design.
Iterations and testing is the success behind a successful user journey especially accessibility testing.
To find ways to improve my own work design process and philosophy to grow as a UX/UI product designer.
